We organise a ‘Winter Masterclass’ on modeling microbial growth and metabolism

Together with our colleagues of the Theoretical Biology group at the University of Utrecht, we will organise a Winter Masterclass on 15-16 February 2018. As with all good things in research, this masterclass will be focused on quality instead of quantity. It is aimed at providing a thorough understanding of a relatively small number of theoretical papers in the field of microbial growth and metabolism. Lectures will be combined with hands-on sessions in which the participants will study the used techniques in more detail. Confirmed lecturers are:

  • Vahid Shahrezaei (Imperial College, London)
  • Frank Bruggeman (our Frank)
  • Ralf Steuer (Humboldt University, Berlin)
  • Bob Planqué (our Bob)
  • Andrea Weisse (University of Edinburgh)
  • Pieter Rein ten Wolde (AMOLF, Amsterdam)

This masterclass will be interesting for PhD students with a background in Theoretical or Computational Biology, whose main focus is on theory. However, experimentalists with strong theoretical interests or aspirations are very welcome, as well. There will only be room for 25 participants and participation is free of charge. So, don’t hesitate and follow this link to apply: http://theoreticalbiology.nl/winterclass2018/.
